Project Description
Kiambiu Environmental Sanitation and Health Outreach (KESHO) is a collaborative effort involving the youth, members of the community, Maji Na Ufanisi and partners in contributing towards improving the quality of life of residents in Kiambiu village, Nairobi. The project’s goal is to improve the quality of life in Nairobi’s informal settlements through sustainable water and environmental services. This is in addition to securing the village for residents by investing in infrastructure.
The project is designed to increase access to water and environmental sanitation by strengthening the groups to design, plan, implement and market water, environment and sanitation services. The groups will also be strengthened to promote hygiene education and behavior change. This is expected to improve the physical environment of Kiambiu, thereby reducing the incidences of environmentally triggered diseases.
This project is also expected to be a focal point for creating consistent social action to address issues of Water and Environmental Sanitation (WES), in Kiambiu and other urban informal settlements, through advocacy. Thus contributing towards realization of the Millennium Development Goal 7.
