ELIZABETH KETTY WAMERA, Community Development Officer
Profile
Elizabeth has over 10 years working experience in Kenya in working with disadvantaged members of communities both in the rural and urban areas. She has worked with the Aga Khan Hospital in the Primary Health Care Program in Kisumu in Nyanza Province and the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega in Western province in the early 1990’s as a community mobilizer. She has also worked with the street children program and teenage mothers in the slum and rural communities in Nyanza Province.
Elizabeth has worked as a program coordinator in different organizations such as Forum for Positive Generation on AIDS Prevention (FOPOGAP); Women Concerns Center and Mwangaza Na Mwelekeo Initiatives (an initiative of western province social workers). In these organizations she spearheaded youth, gender and HIV & AIDS initiatives. Over the past 5 years, she has been involved in different consultancy assignments when she worked closely with the NGO Network for Western Kenya. These assignments included clients such as Lake Victoria Environmental Program (LVEMP), Care for the Earth Program in Nyanza, Plan International – Kenya, DFID through HAPAC consultants.
At Maji na Ufanisi, Elizabeth is a Community Development Officer also in charge of Gender and HIV & AIDS mainstreaming in MnU’s programmes. She has a wide experience in community development which includes community processes and community based initiatives with a specialization in HIV & AIDS and gender mainstreaming activities. She is a team player who can take the lead in quality delivery.
